About Catalogue Numbers
All Pifco products were identified by a catalogue number, anywhere from two to five digits in length. Christmas light sets almost exclusively used four-digit numbers in specific batches detailed below.
Pifco catalogues often displayed an additional three- or four-digit number either as a suffix following a stroke, or listed separately as 'Code'. These were in fact a disguised wholesale price for retailers to refer to. The final two digits were pence, with preceding digits either shillings or pounds depending on the era. For example, 20 Mini Lights were shown as follows:

First Generation: 1200 series
Pifco's earliest lights were clustered around catalogue numbers in the 1250s and 1260s. Some of these numbers appear to have been reused for various different models.

Notes
Early catalogue numbers do not appear to be sequential, with sets of different years distributed somewhat erratically between the 1230s and 1280s. However, catalogue numbers from around 1290 to 1366 appear to be issued largely in order, excluding the renumbered sets noted below.
Renumbering
Several older sets were given out-of-sequence numbers when they were redesigned. Where possible, 100 was added to the original model number; original one-piece Glitter Lights were 1251, while the modernised version with detachable shades was numbered 1351.
Around the end of the 1980s, a few sets that had been updated to use push-in bulbs were renumbered into the early 1200s - for example, 20 Mini Crystals moved from 1337 to 1202 and 20 Merry Lights moved from 1342 to 1203.
Duplicate Catalogue Numbers
Pifco appears to have routinely recycled catalogue numbers, with some light set numbers also used for other products before or since.
Third Generation: 2200-2300 and 7300-7400 series
In the early 1990s, new and redesigned sets initially used catalogue numbers starting with a '2' - most were reworkings of older sets. From later in the decade, brand new designs used numbers starting with a '7'.

Soon after Pifco was acquired, a final few designs of lights were released. With different bulbs and wiring, these had little in common with earlier sets and may have been bought-in rather than in-house designs.
